THE LEVEE.
His Excellency the Lieutenant- Governor held a Levee on Wednesday last, on the occasion of the anniversary of her Majesty's birthday. At one o'clock a guard of honor of the 65th regiment, under the command of Capt. Barry, was drawn up on the lawn in front of Government House, and the Band of the 65th regiment was in attendance. A review of the companies of the 65th regiment, stationed in Wellington, was held on Thorndon Flat, and a feu de joie was fired, and three cheers were given in honor of the occasion.
We understand an arrangement has recently been confirmed by the Government for dividing the cemetery reserve for the use of the different religious denominations in Wei-
lington. In laying out the plan of the town, a reserve of seventeen acres was originally set apart for the purposes of a cemetery, and about five years ago an arrangement was proposed and entered into under a board of commissioners appointed by theLocal Government, consisting of Mr. Murphy the Police Magistrate (a Roman Catholic), Mr. Spain the Land Commissioner, and Mr. Hunter, then Mayoi of Wellington, and a portion of the cemetery reserve (about seven acres) was appropriated by them to the members of the Church of England, and this arrangement has now been completed and confirmed by the Local Government.
The Barques Raymond and Robert Syers arrived last night, the former with a cargo of stock from Twofold Bay, after a quick run of eight days, the latter from Sydney with stock and a general cargo. The Robert Syers had ,a favourable run of, twelve j days. ,
The Triumph arrived on Thursday from Nelson; she reports the sailing of the Catherine the same day with the mail and fifteen passengers for this port.
