We have the satisfaction of announcing the publication, this day, of the Cook's Strait Almanack for 1 848. By the delay of a few days we have been enabled to complete the list of Ordinances passed during the present session of the Legislative Council ; in addition will be found an abstract of the Marriage Ordinance and a table of distances to Wairarapa by the new road through the Hutt district. Several improvements have been made, and it is confidently hoped that the Almanack for the present year will be found superior in many important respects to those of preceding years.
Wb understand that the Theatre will be opened on Thursday evening next, as a private subscription night, under an arrangement similar to that which obtained a few months since and which gave very general satisfaction. We have little doubt that it will be equally well supported on the present occasion.
