SOUTH AUSTRALIA. [From late Sydney Papers.]

We are in possession of news from Adelaide to the 14th instant, received by the Rosetta, arrived at Portland. The discontinuance of the Port charges at Adelaide has proved a failure, and the Governor has laid a bill for their renewal before the Legislative Council. Dr. Murphy, the Romish Bishop of South. Australia, returned to Adelaide by the John Bartlett, from London, on the 28 ultimo, bringing with him two priests.

The blacks on the southern boundary of South Australia were very troublesome, and the settlers were loudly calling for additional protection. - The Dukes of Argyle and Montrose were said to be in treaty for the purchase of fifty thousand acres of land in South Australia, the purchase money to be spent in sending out people from their respective estates. A " South Australian Boiling-down Association," with a capital of £2,000, was in course of' formation at Adelaide. Captain Bagot has, it is said, been offered £180,000 for his interest in the Kapunda mines, for which he originally gave £80. Bishop Murphy has brought out a number of " choice paintings" for the adornment of his chapel at Adelaide.
