COMMERCIAL REPORT.

Wellington, 19th December, 1846. Flour— We have heard of several sales lately at from d£14 : 10 to £15 per ton ; and this may be taken as the current wholesale price. The market is so fully supplied, that there is no proapect of a rise, until the stock is considerably decreased. The Julia'M cargo, from Hobart Town, which arrived last week, meeting with no acceptable offer here, has been taken to Auckland for the chance of a better market. Tea — The increase in the consumption of black tea, owing to the high price of coffee, has created of late an unusual demand foi it ; the new scale of duties has also had its share of influence in raising the price of it, and will be felt more as the present stock decreases. ' Coffee— The stock is small, and almost entirely in tbe hands of the retailers. Sugar— Good Manila is again getting scarce, and much in demand. The greater proportion of the present stock is very inferior. Refined sugar is also getting scarce. Soap— The supply of this article is still sufficient for the demand for some time. Brandy — According to the last report of stock on Tiand, the market is still well supplied. The better brands, such as Hennessy's and Martell's, command from 9s. 6d. to 12s. 6d. RUR UM — The quantity of B. P. Rum in bond, and not in the hands of the contractors, is sufficient for the demand from other sources for many months. Tobacco, both Negrohead and Cavendish, are duller than ever. The very great itock in bond keeps the price steady at 6d. for best brands. Cigars — Very scarce; the stock small and Very inferior. Horned Cattle and Stock — The price of imported stock is governed more by the contract prices than the actual demand. The cattle lately imported from Gipps' Land in the Eagle (the finest ever brought here) were sold on Thursday at £11, 11s. each; the wethers by the same vessel sold at 17s.
