Recall of Sir. Eardley Wilmott. — In our last we stated as a rumour merely, but it was generally believed in Hobart Town, that Sir Eardley Wilmott was about to be recalled. We are now enabled to state, from unquestionable authority, that Sir Eardley has been recalled. The name of his successor was not known when the William Hyde sailed from

London. — Australian. The Colonial Times states — "'We -have received information of considerable importance to our stock proprietors. A person recently returned from a tour in the interior states, that there is a parallelogram of twenty miles by ten of the finest ojfen land^ close to a fine lake about twelve miles south of the Macquarie Harbour, River Gordon, in the centre of which is the source of the Huon. It abounds with grass, and is abundantly watered."

Hobart Town Markets, September 18. —The grain market appears to rule firm at our former quotations, which were from 7s. 3d. to 7s. 6d. The tendency is said to be upwards. Sales reported since our last, are samples at 7s. 3d. and 7s. 6d.; and one is reported a very fine lot, at 7s. 9d., but the name of the buyer not being furnished, we give it only as a report. , *
