CAPE OF GOOD HOPE.

(From the Launceston Examiner, Sept. 12.) We have further details but no later intelligence from the Cape. We have already given an account of the engagement of Fort Peddie. The Kaffirs were no sooner driven from one portion of the country than they made their appearance in another less protected, but notwithstanding the unexpected reverses sustained at the commencement of the struggle there was little doubt that the forces daily arriving would enable the Commander-in-Chief to move at • all points against the enemy and justify the expectations of the country. The Kaffir force is estimated at 40,000 ; to meet this there were 20,000 men, including 4000 disciplined troops.
