Remarks.— A White Flag at Mas' Head denotes a sail in sight; when the class is ascertained, the descriptive Signal will be hoisted at the Yard Arm. English vessel of war, Union Jack at Mast Head. Foreign vessel of war, Union Jack at Mast H«ad, with white Pendant. Government brig, white Penftant under descriptive Signal. . When a vessel is at-ancber, either inside o. outside the Heads, the flag is lowered to hah mast. ... A vessel in distress, or on shore, descriptive •ignal half mast. Fore and aft schooner, a triang'e, hollow in' the centre. ' -
