Sir, — T would not fiave"again troubled you with any more remarks on the militia appointments for this district in particular, feeling satisfied with having drawn attention to the subject; but the letter of Messrs. Granger and Adams obliges me to trespass a little more on your columns. One would have thought that these gentlemen would have attempted some denial to the facts contained in my letter, and not quarrelled with me only on a mere matter of opinion. Messrs. Granger & Adams seem to have that blind confidence in their officers that generally accompanies extreme ignorance ; no one, I think, would care much for their judgment in military affairs. My object, however, was not in any way to reflect on these officers, who, however incompetent, could not be expected to refuse such unexpected offers, but to point out the transaction as being what the public has long since stamped it, a job of the grossest description.
