WESTERN AUSTRALIA.

We have a file of Inquirers, from Western ' Australia, to the 1 3th November, which we have looked over. The colony appears to be flourishing, although at present suffering somewhat from a scarcity of money, Treasury bills were quoted at 1£ per cent, discount, an unusual circumstance, as they had never before fallen below par. This is attributed in some quarters to the increase in the exports of the colony, which served the purpose of money remittances. There is no doubt, however, that the pressure of financial difficulty is not without its influence. Much inconvenience was felt at the uncertainty of any vessels offering an opportunity for the conveyance to England of the season's produce j and the settlers will, no doubt, be suffering from this circumstance. The annual fair and market for stock and produce, and the anniversary show and dinner of the Agricultural Society had been held ; but in consequence of the falling off in the funds of the Society, the specimens were not so good as at the previous meeting. It is highly creditable to the public spirit of this young colony that a society of such a nature should have been established, and we trust that no untoward event may tend to lessen that practical benefit which it is so calculated to conduce.
