AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION ELECTION OF OFFICERS There was a fully representative attendance of delegates at the Aucklaud .Rowing Association's annual meeting on Saturday evening. Tho president, Mr. Ernest Davis, Mayor of Auckland, presided. The report and balance-sheet, a summary of which appeared in the Heiiald last Friday, were fully discussed and adopted. Motions of sympathy with the relatives of the lute Messrs. H. W. Hudson und G. R. liogan were passed. The election of officers resulted as follows President, ilr. HAMILTON CLUB NEED FOR EIGHT-OAR BOAT [kkoai our OWN coiuiespondent] HAMILTON, Sunday Tho need for new and unorthodox bteps to meet tho change in developments that were occurring in connection with rowing is stressed by the committee of tho Hamilton Rowing Club in its report, to be submitted to tho annual meeting of the club on Thursday evening. The report states that tho popularity of eight-oar rowing must influence the club's policy and the provision should be inado for a champion eight to represent the club. Referring to the balance-sheet, tho committee said the finances wero in a sound condition, although heavy sums had been spent on re-conditioning tho plant, and these accounted for a deficit on the year s working. The revenue on regatta winnings was only hftl.' of that received two seasons ago. Tho membership stood at 75, an increase of four A satisfactory arrangement had been come to with the Borough Council respecting tho lease of the club's boatshed site. Preparations were in hand for the construction of a new club house. A new best and best single scull boat had been purchased. During tho year the c.ubs representatives had secured eight firsts and 11 second places at various regattas in tho province. ST. GEORGE'S CLUB Deep regret is expressed in the report to be presented at the annual meeting of the St. George's Rowing Club on Wednesday evening, in recording the death of the club s commodore. Mr. H. W. Hudson. Mr. Hudson, tho report states, was a foundation and life member, and had been closely connected with the club since its inception 59 years ago. Mr. P. J. Sanderson, also a foundation and life member, had consented to fill the office of commodoio. . The club's finances were in a satisfactory condition, while the plant was in first-class order and promised many years of further service. , , . Membership after the roll had been reviewed last season stood at 42 active members. six honorary and 19 life members. During the season 12 new members were enrolled. ~ The club was represented at all regattas held in the province, and registered wins at all but the New Zealand championships, while in inter-club racing the club was successful in the Mason pairs event. REGATTA CLUB'S MEETING The first annual meeting of the New Zealand Rowing Championship Regatta Club, a body formed last Reason under the control of the Auckland Rowing Association, was held on Saturday evening. WHANGAREI, Saturday
The report and balance-sheet presented nt the annual meeting of the Whangarei Rowing Club on Thursday disclosed ft satisfactory financial position in view of the low subscription. Membership showed an increase of 12 over the previous year, with every indication of a further increase this season. Last year marked the club's first success at a regatta since 1928, a victory being registered at Tauranga. The election of officers resulted as follows President, Mr. T. Mitchell; vice-presi-dents.
