MANUKAU AMATEUR CLUB *■ 1 HARBOUR CHAMPIONSHIP RACE Thirty-three started in the Manukan Amateur Cycling Club's annual championship race held on Saturday over a 44-miles harbour course from Devonport to Point Chevalier. The event was won by R. G. Whitley (20m), while the fastest time was returned by T. Rirldell (4m), who broke the record for tho course, sot by J. Brown. Detailed results were as follows:—R. G-. RACE .IN CHRISTCHIJRCH I 1 1 100 MILES CONTEST [fit TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION 1 CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday Three New Brighton men fought out the finish of a gruelling hundred miles rnundthe gorges amateur oycle event which finished on the Addington trotting course yesterday. In a thrilling finish W. J. McDowell won by a wheel from R. W. Rondel, with T. W. Diion ft length away third. Tho winner wns handicapped on 35 minutes and finished in Sh lm 345. F. G. Grose, off scrutch, came in ten minutes after the first men to sccurQ fastest timo in 4b 37m 9s A. J. Lancaster (-Riccarton), also off scratch, secured second fastest time in _4h 37m 10s. Groso, the New Zealand Empire Games representative, put in a brilliant finishing burst to head off a bunch of 18 ridora to tho tape.'

Hamilton,—A road raoo of 21 miles, from Hamilton to Eureka and back, wae conducted by tho Hamilton Amateur Sporta Club. Results were:—A. Reidy, 4ia, 1; C. Burr, Bm, 2; S. Middlemiss, 4m, 3. T. Shaw, who covered the distance in 53m 375, re> corded the fastest timo.
Thames.—The Thames Cycle Club held its 80-miles race in favourable weather. Tha club's record for the distance was lowered by 2m-ss. Tho result was:—Jl. C. Burr, 3ro 455, l! W. Burr, scr. 2; D. Andrews, sor. 3. Fastest time was returned by W. Burr, 83m ss. The junior race over three miles resulted:—Ji. Martin, 1; R. Hinton, '2; G. Hawkins. 8.
