NOTICE OF POLLING-DAY. IN pursuance of " The Electoral Act, 1905," I, JOSEPH WILLIAM SALMON, Eeturning Officer for the Electoral District of Newtown, do hereby give notice that, by virtue of a Writ bearing date the 22nd day of November, 1905, under the hand of the Clerk of the Writs, an election will be held for the leturn of a qualified peison to serve as member for the said district ; and that the latest day for receiving nominations of condidates will be the 28th day of November, 1905 ; and that the poll, if necessary, will be taken at the several polling-places of the said district on the 6th day of December, 1905. Every man desnous of becoming a candidate must be nominated by not less than two electors of the district, by a nomination - papei as piescnbed by section 97 of the said Act, delivered to the Eeturning Officer on or before the 28th day of November, 1905. The following are the polling-places for the Elecfcoial District of Newtown :—: — The District High and Infant School, Eiddiford Street, Newtown (principal). St. Thomas's School, Riddiford Street. Baptist Church, South Eoad (top of South Road). The Schoolroom, Palm Grove, Beihampore. The Public School, Island Bay. Berehaven Tea Booms (opposite wharf), Seatoun. Pilot Tea Booms (Mawhinney's), Karaka Bay. Mr. H. J. Peter's Store, Miramar. Mr. J. Dillons Store, Kilbhnie South, corner of Maranui and Crawford Eoads, Queen's Drive. The Public School, Kilbirnie North. The Public School, Eoseneath. Mr. G. H. Booker's Store, corner of Wallace Street and Finlay Terrace. The Public School, Brooklyn Mr. Patrick Carmodys House, No. 9, Holloway Eoad, Mitchelltown. Fire Brigade Station, Central Terrace, Kelburne. The Public School, South Karori. LICENSING POLL. IN pursuance of "The Alcoholic Sale Control Act Amendment Act, 1895," I hereby give notice that on the day appointed for taking the Electoial Poll of the Electors of the Electoral District of Newtown simultaneously therewith a Licensing Poll will be taken upon the undermentioned proposals :—: — 1. I vote that the number of license s existing in the district continue. 2. I vote that the number of licenses existing in the district be reduced. 3. I vote that no licenses be granted in the district. Nominations for the appointment of Scrutineers in accordance with " The Licensing Poll Eegulation Act, 1899," must be lodged with me not later than 5 o'clock in the afternoon of the 29th day of November, 1905. And I hereby give notice that I shall on the Ist day of December, 1905, at the hour of 9 o'clock in the forenoon, at my office in the Wellington South Post Office, Newtown, publicly consider all nomination papers of persons to appoint Scrutineers in respect of the Licensing Poll for the District of Newtown which have been duly lodged.
