THESE ARE SOME OF OUR SPLENDID ' ROTORUA. The residential centre of the Hot Lakes District, is reached by daily train from Auckland, 171 miles. Altitude, 932 feet. Agreeable climate. The Greatest Geyser in the World, 17 miles from Rotorua. Government Accommodation House at Waimangu, commanding a splendid view of the Geyser Valley and surrounding country. The Rotorua- Waimangu Round Trip (one day) is the most wonderful of thermal-region tours. Transit — coach and power launch. From the buried village of Te Wairoa tourists are conveyed across Lakes Tarawera and Rotomahana, boating on the latter lake through a marvellous zone of thermal activity. The Great Geyser is viewed in safety from the encircling hills, or from the Government Accommodation House. Waimangu's prodigious outbursts range up to 1000, 1200, and 1500 feet in height. TE ARO HOT SPRINGS. A pleasant and beautifully situated Spa, 115 miles from Auckland by daily tram Excellent hot mineral curative Baths, under supervision of a Government Medical Officer. A wonderful series of Limestone Stalactite Caves, in a beautiful valley of the " King Country," accessible by rail from Auckland to Otorohanga or Hangatiki, thence vehicle. THE WANGANUI RIVER. 2R?i l The Wanganui River affords the tourist an inland water trip of 140 miles through the heart of Maonland. Exquisite scenery. Interesting glimpses of native life. Railway from Auckland to Taumarunui at the head of the Wanganui. Launches and steamers thence to Wanganui town. MOUNT EGMONT. The Fusiyama of New Zealand, rising from the beautiful plains of Taranaki to a height of 8260 feet. Mountain houses on the slopes of Egmont. Access by vehicle and horse from railway line. Magnificent views from the summit. LAKE WAIKAREMOANA. The most beautiful lake in the North Island. Lake House (Government Accommodation House), at an ele\ation of 2200 feet above sea level, commands a magnificent view of the lake and the surrounding mountains and forests. Delightful excursions by land and water. An ideal spot for rest and recreation. Government oil launch and rowing boats , boat on Waikareiti. Excellent Trout Fishing in the lakes and streams. In the vicinity is the mountain land of the Urewera Maoris ; beautiful forest scenery ; primitive native villages. THE MARLBOROUGH SOUNDS. Pelorus and Queen Charlotte Sounds, within three hours steam of Wellington, are splendid cruising-waters, well sheltered and picturesque. Excellent sea-fishing ; steamers and oil launches on the Sounds. HANMER HOT SPRINGS. Altitude 1218 feet. Government Spa at Hanmer, one day by rail and coach from Christchurch.
