The most popular excursion from Kotorua is the round trip to Lak> s Taraw era, Rotomahana, and the mammoth Waimangu Geyser, which often spouts its waters and mud and stones a thousand feet in the air The coach-route passes the beautiful lakes of Tikitapu and Rotokakahi, and lands passengers at the ruined village of Te Wairoa. Thence boats convey the visitors across Lakes Taiawera and Roto mahana to the great Geyser.
