WELLINGTON CITY COUNCIL. PROPOSKD CEMETERY" BY-LAW. AJ OTICK is hereby given that the i.l following Resolution was passed at a Special Meeting of the City Council of Wellington, held on THURSDAY Bth October 1903, viz. — RESOLUTION. The Council of the City of Wellington hereby makes, by special order, the follow ing By-law under the powers conferred by "The Munacipal Corporations Act, 1900," and The Cemeter.es Act, 1882," and in pursuance of all other powers (if any) authorising the Council in this behalf. The above Resolution will be submitted for confirmation at the Ordinary Meeting of the Council to be held on THURSDAY sth November, 1903, at 8 p.m , at the Council Chambers, Bran-don-street, Wellington, when the date on which the said By-law will come into force will be fixed. The object and purport of the amending By-law aie as follow — To provide, 1. That no person shall in the Corporation Cemetery at Karori solicit, any order or custom from any mourner or other person for any woik whatever to be done in,, upon, or in relation to, any vault, tombstone, or grave in the said Cemetery, or for the sale, preparation, or su^~ly of any article, material, or thing to be set u^-> affixed, placed, or used in on, around, or near any vault or grave in the said Cemetery. 2. That no person shall in the said Cemetery aoeept or take any such order or custom as aforesaid. 3. That the penalties provided by subsections 1 and 2 of section 408 of "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900," shall apply to bleaches of this By-law. AT OTICE is hereby given that the JAI Wellington City Corporation propose to introduce into the General Assembly at its present session a Local Bill intituled as above, the objects of w Inch are — ■ 1. To empower the Corporation to contract with the owners of a parcel of land containing 48j acres or thereabouts, and being parts of Sections 5, 6, 7, and 8, Evans Bay District, and part of the land commonly known as ' Miramar," for the acquisition by the Corporation of such land as a recreation ground free of pui chase-money on condition that an electric trainw ay is laid there^to from the City withan three years. 2. To empower the Governor to issue an authorising order to the Wellington City Corporation for the laying of the tramway, notwithstanding that two-thirds of the line may not be within the City, or that any part of the tramw a.y may be land on any road vested in the Crow n or any body or persons not being a. local authority. 3. To exempt the recreation ground from local rates. A copy of the Bill and a plan showing the said land have been this day deposited m the Magistrate's Court, in the City of Wellington, and are there open to public inspection.
