The winning team scarcely varied its constitution on a single occasion, which fact chiefly accounts for its success. .ln this respect it set a lesson to senior teams. A good combination of reliable and promising players was got together at the outset of the season and these refused to be drawn on tor senior matches. The wisdom of this, from their point of view, is obvious, now that the coveted banner is won, but such a stand is not in the interests of the game for a place in the senior team is what all junior players should strive to obtain. Their record for competition matches reads exceedingly well, and augurs well for local football next year should the players continue to be residents of the town. The record is as follows- — Matches played, 8; won, 7; lost, 1. Carterton 11. came next, with three points less. Saturday's match was played on a very heavy ground, and good football was out of the question. Walker scored a try for Masterton, which was magnificently converted by ± .
