Mr. W. H. P. Barber is to make hia debut on the political platform., at the Victoria Hall, Adelaide-road, on Men. day evening next, when he will place his views before the free and independent of Newtown. Mrs. Helen Temple Brigham, of the Spiritual and Ethical Society of New York, is an eloquent exponent of Spiritualism, and her lectures in the New Century Hall, on Sundays October 12th and 19th, at 7 o'clock, should be crowded. Prices are 2s and Is. Mr. Alf. Hill, musician and composer, having finally decided to make Wellington hia headquarters, announces elsewhere that he will receive pupils. Mr. W. E. Sansbury, a candidate for a Wellington City seat at tihe coming election, sets out very fully elsewhere the policy he favours. His ideas, as may be seen, are Liberal, and he is an ardent Temperance advocate, believing as he does 1 that "no license" should be decided by a bare majority. Mr. E. F. Hiscocks's "King Diok Abroad," just issued from the press, is in the best style of that well-known artist. It is unfortunate that the publishers considered it necessary to apologise for having dealt humorously with New Zealand's Premier, who is by no means the thin-skinned individual that one might be led to suppose. The book is exceptionally well-destgned.
