MUNICIPAL COUNCIL.
Monday, November 14, Council met. Present Mr. Lyon, Chair; Mr. Jenkins, Dr. Dorset, Mr. Fitzherbert, Mr. Scott, Mr. Guyton, Mr. Molesworth. Minutes of former meeting read and confirmed. Letter from C. 11. Squib, for situation of Town Crier. Dr. Dorset moved—That the Town Surveyor be directed to set out a part of the market place at Pipitea Pah, for the use of the public. Mr. Jenkins seconded the motion. Mr. Scott proposed—That the motion be postponed until the Town Surveyor shall have made his repprt of the state of the corporation property. Mr. Johnson seconded the motion, which was agreed to. Mr. Johnson moved that an address be pre - sented to His Excellency to extend the 2nd Sec. of Ordinance, No. 16, 5 Vic., to the Borough of Wellington, subject to the direction of the Town Council, as to the limits to which from time to time it shall be extended. Dr. Dorset seconded the motion. For the motion, Mr. Scott, Mr. Johnson, Dr. Dorset, Mr. Lyon. Against the motion, Mr. Jenkins, Mr. Fitzherbert. Ayes 4 Noes 2 Majority for the motion 2 Report from the Town Surveyor, respecting the encroachments on the Public Street in Lambton Quay, read. Mr. Johnson proposed—That the Town Clerk be directed to write to all the persons named in the Town Surveyor’s Report, giving them notice of the extent of their several encroachments, and to warn them from rebuilding on, or erecting any fencing or buildings on the same. And also to give notice to those whose houses and appurtenances are now standing on the same. Mr. Fitzherbert seconded the motion. Agreed to nem. con, Mr. Fitzherbert moved—That the Town Clerk be directed to apply to the Principal Survevor of the New Zealand Company, to set out the line of Road from the north end of Town Acre 489 to 513. And that the Town Surveyor be directed to put himself in communication with the Company Surveyor for that purpose. Mr. Molesworth seconded the motion. Agreed to. Mr. Lyon proposed that the Address respecting Raupo Houses, addressed to the Governor, be entered on the Minutes. Mr. Johnson seconded the motion. Agreed to nem. con. Mr. Fitzherbert moved the adjournment.
