Nkw-Zka land Kit Otlice, Friday, Sept. 12th, 1862. There has been but one foreign arrival dining the week, namely the clipper ship Matilda Wattenbach from London with merchandise, and the first division of the Nonconformist settlers numbering some34o souN, many of whom have already set out to take possession of the laud let apart for them ; the Hanover which sailed from the Downs in company with the Matilda Wattenbach, and which has a like complement of passengers has now been a hundred and two days out, and is looked for hourly. The departures have been the brigantine Sea Gull for Newcastle ; and ship Messina tor Callao; the clipper ship Queen of the North has cleared for Guam. The produce received coastwise consists of 1467 bushels wheal, \2\t.\ bushels maize, 2 cwt. onions, ,'lcwt. bacon, (in cwt. potatoes 21 cwt flax, 20 cwt salt pork, 10 cwt pumpkins, 12$ tons kauri gum, l(j tons firewood, (i tons bark, ISO Ihs cheese, 4-IO Ihs butter, (in dozen eggs, 21 head cattle, (11 pigs, lil Uiecp, 3,<MU feet timber, 4,<HKi palings, 38,000 shingles. The barque Glensliee with cattle from Wellington, and ihe brig Gil 111 is from Napier, with a similar cargo, have both gone into the Tamaki to discharge. There have been several departures for the Southern province-, with full cargoes of kauri timber, and a number of diggers for Otago. We have had a most agreeable change of weather, the week having been mild and serene throughout, drying up the roads and causing the pastures to vegetate luxuriantly. The Customs Revenue received during the week ended the 6lh instant amounted to £1892 7«. -Id.
DUNEDIN LIVE STOCK MARKET.
(From the "Times," August, 23.) Messrs. Driver, Maclean J: Co.. report:—Although the yards have been fairly supplied with cattle the past week, all that came to hand were taken by the trade at a slight advance on our last quotation!. The market is still bare of good mutton, and we fear the supply will continue short until after shearing. There are but few lots of fat sheep in the Province, and holders do not seem inclined to sell at present. Fat Catt'e.—We have sold all that were offered, at say for best bullocks, £2B to £.10; second do. £2O to £24; inferior do. £l6 to £ll!; best cows, £'2o to £Si; second do. £IC to £ltl; inferior do. £l2 to I'll. We gild a lot of 60 head, onc-third cows and on;-third bullocks at above rates. Fat Calves scarce, and very saleable at £4 to £(icach. Store Cattle.—Owing to the present hj gh price in the north, and the reported discovery of new gold-fieldt, holders of cattle are asking an advance on our last quotations, 6ay, for quiet W( II bred cattle, aged, I'll Ills, to £l2 Ith. ; second quality, £'lo to £ll. We haveTOld 300 head very superior cattle at £l2 10*. per head. Dairy Cows and Working Bullocks are much inquired for and scarce. Quiet cows with calf nt foot, or springing £ls to £25. Well bied bullocks in good condition £4(l to £6O per pair. fat Stieep.—Very scarce at 3S«. to 38*. for best quality! 32s to 34'. for second do. Store Sheep are In demand, particularly young acclimatised breeding ewes. Ewes (delivered before shearing) .'l.'is. Weathers do , 27*. (id. to .'ins. Station Property. —We have many inquiries for good runs, with but few offering for sale. Horses.—Although the market is still bare of good stock we have to note considerable advance in price of rough heavy hacks for packing to the new diggings. The demand for anything that is at all useful is daily increasing, and should the excitement last a week longer, there will be but few available horses left in the market. Our sales of to-day are at least 80 pel cent, in advance of prices last week.
