CITY BOARD.
MONDAY, AUGUST 11th, 1862, The Board met at 4 o'clock. Present:—Messrs. Bcveridge, Cadman, Darby, Fihlay, Macrcady, Wood, and the chairman (btannus °The following appointments were made and conMr. James Stewart, C.E., to bo engineer to the Board at a salary of £3OO per annum. Messrs. Smith, North, Wilson, Clare, Price and Grey to assist the assessors in estimating the value ot vho city property. NOTICES OF MOTION. Mr. Bevcridgc then gave notice for the next sitting day that an application be made to his Honor the D'ijiuty Superintendent for an advance of £l5O to mat tho current expenses of the Board. Mr. Cadman gave notice that on the next sitting day l:e would move the following resolutions:—lst, That the engineer be instructed to examine the plan nndsjecificationofthemain sewer, and to report to the Eiard his opinion whether there cannot be a considerate saving of expenditure by the modification of thi work without injury to the stability or permanent character of tho sewer. 2nd, That the engineer be requested to examine Chancery Lane and its neighbourhood, West Qucen-strcot and its neighbourhood, and to report to the Board the best and cheapest mannei of making some sanatary improvement in those localities, also to report to tho Board what further steps the Bouvd can take to improve the sanatary state of tho city generally. 3rd, That the engineer be instructed to furnish the Board with a list of the various works and their approximate cost, which may_ be necessary to be undertaken during the ensuing 12 months. Mr. Darby gave notice that he should move on the next sitting day that instructions be given to tho engineer to examine tho city levels thoroughly, and to report to the Board his opinion as to their general correctness; also to report to the Board any alterations or modifications that he may think necessary for the public convenience, that the levels may be as perfect and comploto as possible; tho report to be brought up on Monday, September 8, 1862. Tho Board then adjourned to Wednesday at 4 o'clock.
