RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
SATURDAY, AUGUST 9th. BREACH OF MERCHANT SEAMEN'S ACT. John Smith was charged by Captain A. Crombie, Master of tho " Queen of the North," with wilfully disobeying orders by being in the lazarette of the ship, on Friday last. . The prisoner pleading guilty and was ordered to be imprisoned for four weeks, with hard labour. DRUNKENNESS. James Bruce, Charles Veston, and Sarah Hill were brought up on the above charge, and fined ss. each and costs, or, in default, 24 hours with hard labour. MONDAY, AUGUST 11th. DRUNKENNESS. Thomas Solomon and John Collins, were charged with the above oftence and ordered to pay ss. each and costs or 24 hours hard labour. TUESDAY, AUGUST 12th, 1862. DRUNKENNESS. Alfred Davis and William Chapman were fined ss. each and costs, and James Murray and Margaret Condron were fined 20s. each and costs for the above t x>ffence,or in default of payment to be imprisoned with hard labour.
