NEWS FROM THE SOUTH.
Arrival of t}ie "Lord Worsley."
KESIGNATION OF THE FOX MINISTRY.
The Lord Worsley arrived in the Manukau, with tho Southern Mail, on Wednesday afternoon. The intelligence from Wellington is most important. The Colonial Secretary having moved a resolution almost the same in; terms with that affirmed by tho House last session without division, a lengthened and animated debate ensued, —Mr. Curtis moving in amendment the previous question. The House ultimately divided, the amendment being carried not even by the celebrated majority of " one," but by the casting vote of tho Speaker. Upon this Ministers have resigned. Messrs. Stafford and Weld have declined to attempt to form a- Ministry. Mr. Domett had been sent for, but all was in a state of incertitude. We furnish copious extracts for our present Summary, and shall give a full report of the debate in Saturday's issue, reserving till then our own comments upon the result. A New Zealand Gazette was published on Saturday, July 26th, and contains the Governor's acceptance of the resignation from Chas. Ilobt. Blakistone, Esq., of his seat in the Legislative Council ; the Governor's assent to two Ordinances passed by the Provincial Council of Taranaki, namely, "An Ordinance to prolong the operation of the Ordinances Suspension Ordinance, 1860," and "An Ordinance to appropriate Money for the Public Service for the Province of Taranaki, for the year ending 31 st December, 1862," also the Governor's assent to "An Ordinance to authorise the Superintendent of Taranaki to raise tho sum of £25,000 for the public service of the Province of Taranaki ;" His Excellency's appointment of Major Dwyer, of the 14th, as his acting Private Secretary. George Leslie Leo and John Hall, Esqs., both of Canterbury, and Audrew Buchanan, Esq., of Otago, have been summoned to seats in the Legislative Council. In a former Gazette we noticed that the same appointment had been conferred on John Anderson Gilfillan, of Auckland; Henry Russell, of Hawke's Bay; and Robert Stokes, of Wellington, Esqs. The names, also, of several gentlemen in the Southern Provinces appear as Justices of the Peace for the colony. The Gazette also contains tho Memorandum of Registration relative to " Kevon's Reef Gold Mining Company."
