Pandora, Commander Drury, sailed on a cruise to the Northward Union Jack, over number 492. The Daniel Webster, Dunning, for Sydney, and the Nelson, screw steamer, Martin, from Manukau, for the Southern Provinces, sailed on Tuesday ; and the Heather Bell, Jones, sailed far Sydney, on Wednesday last. The clipper schooner, Queen of Penh. Capt in Poole, arrived in port, yesterday afternoon, after a fine passage of seven days from Sydney, having sailed from .thence on the Isih inst., at which lime the William Denny had not arrived, although the Madras suarner, with ihe overland Anglo-Indian mails Lai reached the Australian Metropolis on the 9th. We glean the following Maritime Miscellanea from the Sydney papers come lo hand : The Queen, (s. s.) from hence the 22nd Augu t, arrived at Sydney on the 31st, after a nine days passage, and sailed for Melbourne on the Oth inst. The General S. S. Shipping Company’s ship Croesus, after undergoing a heavy repair in Sydney, s.ii ed for London, via Cape Horn, on the 2nd inst. The ‘‘Sydney Herald” of the 4ih, quotes an article fiorn the “ Melbourne Herald” to show that a great feeling ofjealousy Las been excited in Victoria, in consequence of the us yet exclusive establishment of Steam communication between Sydney and Auckland. IVe, on this side, have no desire to be exclusive. The barques Galatea, and Ino, and the brig Moa, were all on the berth on the lUh mst. for Auckland, with dispatch. The brig Moa, Captain Bowden, after experiencing head winds throughout the passage, arrived at Sydney on the sth instant. She sailed from Auckland on the 22nd ult. The barque Signet, Bevan, sailed from Sydney for Kaipara on tbo Bdi instant. Passengers, Mr. and Mrs. E. Calsre,J. Dior.', Mr. Suters, and two roaorios. A French and English squadron were at Honolulu on the 241h of July. The English frigates Pique and President were of the number. The Russian frigate Diana had been there in the middle of June, on the look-out for her consort, the Aurora (recently repaired at Portsmouth) ; but, having learnt the declaration of war, she cleared out, with stunsails alow and aloft, and nifiile the-best vi her way northward, towards Sitka,
