PRECAUTIONS AGAINST FIRE.
V a meeting of Subscribers to the Fund for the purchase of Fire' Engines, &c, held at the " Exchange ' Hotel, on Thursday, the 2'i'nd instant, Mr. Shaldera in the chair, the follo'vihg resolutions were adopted : Moved by Mr. Williamson, seconded by Mr. Davis, "(That a lire Prevention Committee be established, to consist of six members, a Treasurer and Secretary." Moved by Mr. Kelly, and seconded by Mr. McDonald, " (hat the Committee of Management for carrying out the objects of the subscribers, be Me-srs. Wellesley Hughe.*, James Henderson, Dr. Campbell. Messrs. D. Nathan, A. Clarke, and James George—-Treasurer Mr. D- Graham; Secretary, Mr. C. Davis." Moved bv Mr. Davy, and seconded by Mr. Kelly,
" That the Committee take the necessary steps to procure Fie Engines and other necessary apparatus, with the least possible delay." Moved by Mr. Davis, and seconded by Mr. Ru«t, " That this Committee take measures to form District Fire Brigades of the inhabitants of the City of Aucklaiuf, and prepare a code of laws for the regulation of such Brigades, when a general meeting of the inhabitants shall be convened to cany the same into effect." Moved by Mr. Keilr, and seconded by Mr. Davy, "That the Subscription List be published for general information."
