Trial of the Largest Man-of-War Steam-ship in the Would.—The great three decker, Duke of Wellington, 131 guns, and 780 horse-power, was tried on Monday at sea, to arrive at an estimate oi what Bpoed she is likely to realise as an effective line-of-bat-tle-ship steamejr. An enormous cuncour.-e of* people hoed the shore to witness her emeige from Portsmouth harbour, and a brilliant assemblage of officers of rankgraced the noble vessel's quarter-deck and poop, as she thus glided along the water, the observed of all. The steaming was an average speed of rather better than ten knots an hour, the engines making from 28 to Si revolutions per minute, which" was deemed a most encouraging and a quite unexpected speed ; but it must be remembred she is 1 ght—no guns, shot, or heavy seastores on board.— Jidinburgh advertiser, April 15.
