ORIGINAL CORRESPONDENCE.
To the Editor of the New-Zealander.
Sia, —Certain parties who, no doubt, arc anxious to increase the numbers of votes for their own favorite candidates, have been instructing some of the less informed electors that they can "1 vc the whole of their votes to one man if they please—trying to secure, in this way what is termed “ a plumper.” Will you allow me to settle the doubts which have been raised in the minds of many on this point, by stating how the matter really stands. If there are four members to be returned for a district, every elector for that district may vote it he pleases for four candidates —.giving one vote to each, —or he may vote for three, or two, or only one of the number; but ho cannot give any more than Qnc vote to one man. —Yours, &c., A Suburban Elector,
