Lectures on Church History. —Since we last referred to the series of Lectures on this subject, delivered by Ministers of the Evangelical Alliance in several of the places of worship in Auckland, the last three of the course have been given. On Tuesday, the 171 Ii ult., the Rev. A. Macdonald lectured in the Primitive Methodist Chapel on “ Wickliir, or the Dawn of a more earnest Christian Faith in the i ilh century:”—on Wednesday, the 25th ult., (he Rev. J. 11. Fletcher, in the Wesleyan Chapel, on “Luther, or the Supremacy of Scripture vindicated, and (lie powerful effects to Religion, National Progress, and Personal Liberty —and on Monday evening last, the 50th ult., by the Rev. Alexander Reid, in the Presbyterian Church, ou “Knox, or Protestant Principles triumphant.” The titles of the Lectures are sufficiently descriptive to indicate the topics principally dwelt on, and the reverend gentlemen by whom they were severally discoursed on, brought varied ability, reading, and uniform earnestness to their elucidation. The Lectures were of course in every instance preceded and followed by devotional exercises, in which Ministers of the several denominations united in the Alliance joined ; and (be congregations were numerous, and deeply attentive.
