SUPREME COURT.
The usual quarterly Criminal Session of this Court was held yesterday before His Honor Chief Justice Martin. The following gentlemen were sworn as the Grand Jury : Alexander Kennedy (Foreman) ; J. W. Rain, J. C. Blackett, W. Brown, W. S. Grahamc, J. Hargreaves, A. Marlin, J. Salmon, W. 1. Taylor, J. Buchanan, W. Connell, J. A. Gilfillan, H, Matson, H. W. Mahon, and J. Gray, Esqrs. The only case for trial was that of James M‘Mullen, who was charged with having, at Epsom on the sth of December last, stolen a silver watch the properly of George Grieves Burns. The prisoner pleaded Guilty ; and his Honor, having staled that he had previously made himself acquainted with the facts of the case by reading the depositions, immediately passed sentence —twelve months imprisonment with hard labour.
There being no other business the Session terminated, the whole proceedings having occupied only about half an hour. Happily little business —or frequently no business at all beyond the observance of the requisite formalities —is so usual here as to call for no special comment on this occasion.
