The Ration to consist of — 10 lbs. Oats, 14 lbs. Hay, 8 lbs. Straw ; or of V 12 lbs Old Maize, 4 lbs. Bran, 1 14 lbs. Hay, > 8 lbs. Straw.
The price lo be stated at per ration, for either of the above scales, it not being in- • dispensable lhat both scales should be tendered for. The Forage to be delivered by the Contractor at the quarters of ihe several Officers and persons entitled, at such times, and in \ such quantities as may be directed by the undersigned, or his successor in office. The different articles composing the Ration J are lo be of ihe best marketable description in every respect, and when a difference of opinion as to quality may arise, it is to be decided by a Board of Officers to be ap- • pointed by the Officer in command of the : Troops for ihe lime being. Should the decision of the Board be ad- ■ verse to the Contractor, he must immediately furnish other articles of a satisfactory description, or else the Commissariat will cause purchase to be made, and charge the e\pense against the Contractor. It shall be in the power of either party to limit the duration of the Contract by giving, in writing, a nolice of three calendar months lo the opposite parly. Such nolice lo be given only from the first day of a month. No transfer of a Contract will be permitted without the previous consent of ihe ; Senior Commissariat Officer. The Contractor to prepare his account . monthly, according lo the usual Form, and i on producing the same, supported by pro- - per Vouchers, will be paid in cash when the amount is under £50, when above that sum, payment will be made by a Treasury Bill at par. Each Tender must be accompanied by a statement signed by two competent persons, and expressing their readiness, in the event of the Tender being accepted, lo become Sureties for its due performance, by entering into a Bond, the penalty of which will be the same as the estimated amount of three months supplies. The Tenders lo be in duplicate, and, when once sent in, are not to be altered or withdrawn. Information as to the Tender accepted shall be given as soon as the decision has "> been made in that respect, and the Bond s must then be completed without delay. 1 Should any person who may sign a Tender, either as a proposed Contractor or as a s Surely, refuse to fulfil his offer, he will be % considered in future as ineligible to act in either capacity. 1j Any further information, particularly V with regard lo the delivery of the Forage by the Contractor, may be obtained on ap- tl plication at this office. a Philip Turner, Assistant Commissary General.

'TENDERS will be received at this office -*- until noon of Saturday, the 251h inst., from persons willing to undertake the performance of the following sen ices, at the hired Barracks, Whapau, Bay of Islands, for one year, from 4st October, 1852, to 50th September, -1855, viz. : Washing and Repairing Soldiers' and Hospital Bedding. Persons whose tenders may be accepted will be required to ghe reasonable security for the due performance of their engagements.
