RULES.

I. — The Entries to be made with name and distinguishing Colour of the Boats or Vessels at the Masonic Hotel, on Monday evening, the 26th instant, at 8 o'clock. Post Entries will be received on board the Flag-ship on the 29th, on payment of an extra fee. 2. — Each boat in the various matches to carry a distinguishing /Jag, (at least a foot square) which must be kept flying during the race. Colours to be named on entering. 3. — All sailing boats or vessels may carry any and what sail they please. No boat will be allowed to use oars, paddles, or poles ; to take in or throw out ballast after starting)* Water ballast to be fresh, and to be examined on coming in, at the discretion of the Umpire, 4. — Boats or vessels on the port tack to bear up for those on the starboard tack. Boats or vessels running free, to keep away for boats on a wind. Any boat fouling another to be considered distanced. 5. — Disputes occurring in any of the matches must be made known to the Umpire immediately after the race. 6. — The decision of the Umpire in all cases shall be final. 7. — Boats' tonnage to be calculated by the new measurement, under the Bth and 9th Vic, chap. 89 ; and all boats shall, if required, produce a certificate of their tonnage, under the hand of the proper officer, at the time of entering. 8. — Any deviation from these rules will subject the aggressor to forfeit all claim to the prize. 9.— -The first Race to start at 11 a.m. (Each succeeding race at an interval of 20 minutes.) 10. — The Committee have the power of postponing the Regatta in the event of the weather proving unfavorable. {£^* Should the day prove unfavorable, an ensign will be hoisted at the fore-top-gallant mast head of the Flag-ship, and a signal gun will be fired from the Flag-ship at 10 o'clock. January 22nd, 1852.
