ANDREW'S SOCIETY OF AUCKLAND. Name. Ist.— The Society shall be called "The St. Andrew's Society of Auckland." Objects. 2nd. — The objects of the Society shall be, — the promotion of Education; the granting of pecuniary aid to deserving persons who may wish to emigrate, the rendering assistance to such on their arrival in the Colony; the communication of information as to the state and prospects of this Province lo influential persons and Societies in Scotland, with a view to the benefitof intending emigrants ; the revival of old associations ; and, finally, the affording such charitable relief as its funds permit to natives of Scotland and their descendants, resident in Auckland. Qualification of Members. 3rd.— Subject to the exceptions hereafter stated, any person shall be eligible to be admitted a Member of the Society who is — ] st, a Native of Scotland. 2nd, a. Son or Grandson of a Native of Scotland. 3rd, a Husband of a Native of Scotland. 4th.— lt shall be in the power of any Member, at a Quarterly General Meeting, to move the suspension of the above Rule for the purpose of proposing for admission any person, who, from his connexion with Scotland, or on other grounds, shall possess claims to such admission. Honorary Membership. 1 sth.— The Committee shall have power _to nominate, to any Quarterly General Meeting, such person or persons as they may deem eligible I for honorary membership. [ Admission of Members. 6th.— On and after the Ist of January next, no person shall be admitted a Member of the Society until he be proposed and seconded by two Members. Notice of the intention of such proposal to be given in writing to the Secretary, at least a fortnight before the Quarterly Meeting ; the vote to by ballot, and one black ball in ten to exclude. Entrance Fee and Subscription. 7th.— The Entrance Fee after the Ist January, 1852, shall be Ten Shillings and Six-pence, and the Annual Subscription, commencing from last St. Andrew's Day, shall be Ten Shillings, payable quarterly in advance. I A Subscription of Five Guineas shall constitute a life membership. General Meetings. Bth.-~ The General Meetings shall be held quarterly, that istosay,onthe last day of February, the 30th of May, the 30th of August, and the Oth day of November in each year ; and in the event of any of these days falling on Sunday, such Meeting to take place on the Monday following. Due notice of every Meeting to be given by advertisement in two of the Auckland newspapers. Committee of Management. 9th.— -The business of the Society shall be conducted by a Committee of Management, to consist of a President, Vice-President, a Secretary and Treasurer, and nine Members, to be elected annually at the General Meeting on the 9th of November. At all Meetings of Committee Five to form a quorum. The President shall have power to call a General or Committee Meeting at his pleasure, or on the request of three Members of the Committee, for a Committee Meeting, or of twelve Members of the Society for a General Meeting. Disposal of Funds. Beyond the granting of temporary relief, and paying current expenses, no grant of money shall be made by the Committee for any purpose unless sanctioned at a General Meeting of the Society. Bye Laws. 11th.— The Committee may frame such Bye Laws as they shall from time to time find necessary, all such to be submitted for approval at a General Meeting of the Society. Alteration of Rules. 12th. — No alteration of or addition to the above Rules shall be made without notice being given thereof at the previous Quarterly Meeting.
