ORIGINAL CORRESPONDENCE.

To the Editor of the " New Zealander." Sin, — I am obliged to your correspondent for strengthening my argument by giving the meaning of the word Sect, from Dr. Ogilvie'a Scotch Dictionary, although, probably, few of your readers ever heard of the book before, far less of it as an authority in the English language. It has, however, been brought forward in want of a better, for the last part of the definition of the word, viz., " Any body which separates fiom the established religion of a country." Now, is not the Church of England a body which sepanited from the Roman Calbolic Church at a time when the Roman Catholic Church yras the established religion of the country. / I fear both your correspondents have unintentionally allowed themselves to employ the term Sect in that u had sense," in which you justly state Dr. Johnson tells us it is " often" used. A Member of the Church or England Sect.
