PROCLAMATION. By His Excellency Major-General GEORGE DEAN PITT, Knight of the Royal Ilanovelian Guelphic Order, Lieutenant Governor of the Province of Now Ulster, &c , &c. by an Oidinance enacted by V v the Lieulenanl-Ciovi'inor of New Zealand, with the aduce and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, Session 8, No. 5, intituled, '• An Ordinance for regulating the Maughtt'iing of Cattle in ccitain places," it is amongst oilier things endeted, that it shall be law ul for the Governor, by Proclamation, to diiect and appoint that one or more slaughti'ihouse or slaughter-houses within or near any town within the colony, shall be a Public Slaughter-hou-se or houses, for such period as he shall in that behalf appoint, and by any f>uch PmclauuUion to diiect that all cattle slaughteied in any such town, or within three miles from the outer bountlaiy thereof, for sale, barter, shipping, or exportation, shall bes'aughtered at such slaughtcr-hou^e or houses only ; — and it is also enacted that eveiy peison who shall slaughter or cause to be slaughtered any caitle as aforesaid, contuuy to the provisions of any such Pioclamation, shall forfeit and pay the sum of Five Pounds for eveiy head of cattle so slaughtpied. Now therefore, I, the Lieutcnant-Goveinor, pursuant to the authoiity in me so vested in that behalf, do hereby proclaim, direct, and appoint that the Slaughter House recently erected in the neighbouihood of Auckland, near Hobson's Budge, shall he a Public Slaughter Hou.se for the purposes of the said lvcited Ordinance, until public notice to the contrary shall have been given in the New Zealand Government Gazette; and that the le shall be levied, collected, and received for the slaughleiing of cattle at such public Slaughter Home as aforesaid, the fees hereafter mentioned ; that is to say, For every Bull, Cow, Heifer, Steer and other head of Cattle 3s. 6cl. For eveiy Calf not exceeding one year old, and for every Sheep and Goat Is. OJ. For every Boar, Sow, and Pig 2s. 6d. And I do heieby further proclaim and direct that on and after the first day of January, 1851; no cattle shall be slaughtered for sale, baiter, shipping or expoitation at the town of Auckland, or within three miles fiom the outer boundary theteof, except at such Public Slaughter House as aforesaid. Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of New Ulster, at Auckland, this sixth day of December, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty. GEO. D.
