■ GOVERNMENT GAZETTE. PROCLAMATION. By His Excellency Sir GEORGE GREY, K.C.B-, Governor-in-Chief, in and over the Islands of New Zealand, and Governor of the Provinces of New Ulster and New Munster, and Vice- Admiral of the same, fyc, c\c. WHEREAS by an Ordinance enacted by the Lieutenant-Governor of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council, Session 8, No. 11, intituled "An Ordinance to secure the payment of certain Government Debentures out of the General Revenue of the Colony," it is enacted that " it shall be lawful for the Governor from time to time, out of the surplus Revenue of the said Colony, or out of any other funds at his disposal in that behalf, to pay off" and discharge the said Debentures." And whereas it is desirable that all unfunded Debentures for sums of One Pound and Five Pounds shall be paid, together with the interest due thereon, in the terms of the said Ordinance : Now therefore I, the Governor-in-Chief, do hereby proclaim that all such Debentures of One Pound and Five Pounds each, at present outstanding within the said Colony of New Zealand, will, with the interest thereupon accruing, for any complete year or years, be paid off on being presented for that purpose at the respectiveTreasuriesor Sub-Treasuries throughout the Colony aforesaid, upon any day after the Ist day of March next, and that such De bentures will not bear interest from and after the 30th day of June, 1849. This Proclamation shall take effect from and after the Ist day of March next. Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Islands of New Zealand, at (L.S.)
