TENDERS FOR HAY.

Colonial Secretary's Office, Auckland, Oct. Aih, 1843. TENDERS will be received at this Office, until noon on Thursday, the 12th October, for the supply of Hay, in such quantities as may be requiied for the Colonial Government during twelve months ending 30th September, 1849. The Tenders to state the price per Ton, at which the Hay will be delivered at the Government Stables in Mechanic's Bay, or at Howick, as may be required. Any further information required on the subject may be obtained on application at the office of the Superintendent of Public Works. The Tenders must be in duplicate, sealed and endorsed " Tender for Hay." By His Excellency's command, Andrew Sinclair, Colonial Secretary.

NOTICE is hereby given, that, in accordance with the sixth clause of the Slaughter-house Ordinance, Session yin, No. 5, a SPECIAL MEETING of the JUSTICES of the Town and district of Auckland, will be holden at the Resident Magistrate's Court, in Auckland, on Wednesday, the 25th day of October next, at Eleven o'clock in the forenoon, for the purpose of considering APPLICATIONS FOR LICENSING SLAUGHTER HOUSES; Notices of Applications containing descriptions of the Houses or places intended to be Licensed, to be laid with me, on or befoie Saturday, the 14th day of October next. CANVAS, Nos. 6 and 7 Rope, Europe, from 3-| to 1 inch Signal Halliards, white, l£ inch Block, double, 6 inch " single, 5 inch Beeswax Lines, — cabin, marline and log Tar, vegetable Tallow Lime for whitewashing Iron, new, i, f , f , and 1^ inches Locks, plate" and rim, 8 inches long, 5 inches broad Locks, stock, 10 inches long, 6 inches wide Nails, copper boat — ditto, Tacks " Iron Tacks — ditto, Brads " lion boat — Iron sharp, 40d., 30d., 10d.,4d., 3d., and2d. It has a frontage to Shortland-street of 88 feet, and 48 feet to Princes-street ; 50 feet by 41 is already excavated and ready for a foundation stone. This ground is peculiarly well adapted for a Public Building, such as a Custom House, Banking House, Post Office, or an Hotel, from its central and commanding situation and its very spacious frontage to two principal streets.
