THE WRECK OF THE "ORWELL."

Since our Saturday's report of the disastrous wreck of the Orivell, we le.un that next morning a fter she situcU, as described, the hull parted, when one broadside floated towards shoie, ami was seen ted together with the foie and mizen masts, some yards and spars; and the other side drifted to seavvaid. The natives are said to have succeeded in securing some floating vestiges, but upon the whole, so far as we can ascertain, very little comparatively has been or could be lescned fiom the devouring element. Wh.it has been saved of the wreck will of course have to be sold for the benefit of the insurer's. The case of the captain and crew of t'.is ill fated vessel is much to be commiserated. With the ship, they have with some trifling exceptions, lobt their all. All have MiHVied more or less. All have well founded claims upon the public, sympathy. The people ol Auckland have heretofore responded liiieially to eveiy call upon their liberality, in leal cases of distiess, and we are quite confident that it needs but two or three of our philanthropic towns-people now, to go lound with asubsciiption list to piove that their geneiosity isaswaim as ever. More than one individual lias called at our office already, wishing to subscribe his mite to so worthy a. purpose. It only lequires the matter to be taken up in a proper way to secure such a contribution w, will proem e tor them a "fresh Jit o:<l."
