REGULATIONS FOR THE CARRIAGE OF PASSENGERS IN MERCHANT SHIPS. From the Sydney Government Gazette.
PROCLAMATION. By !hs Excellency Sir < harlei Augustus Fitz Roy, Knight Companion of the Royal Hmnverian Guelphc Ord"r, Optain-General and Governor in-Chief of the Ternary ef New Sou'h Walei and it» dependencies and Vice-Admiral of the tame, &c . &c. Wheieas by nn Act of the Imperial Parliament of Great Bnt«m and Ireland, passed in the fifth and tixth year of Her Msjeity's reign, intituled •• An Act for regulating the Carriage of Passengers in Merchant "Vesseli," it is amongit other things enacted, that it »hall be lawful for the Governor, or officer administering the Government of any British colony, (other than the colonies therein specifically provided for) to declare, by proclamation to be issued for that purpose, that the mid Act, except at therein is excepled, shall be extended, and ihall apply to the cairiage of paisengers by sea from any such colony to such places as may by him be named for the purpose in such proclamation; and thereupon the said Act shall be thenceforth so extended and shall apply accordingly ;— And whereas it ii. by the said Act further enacttd, that it ■halt be lawfnl for the Governor or officer adminutering the Governmeut of any ot the British col nies, to which the said Act, as re«pects the carriage of passenger* by sea therefrom, shall have been extended by proclamation, as thereinbefore is mentioned by any proclamation or proclamations to be by him issued for that purpose, to declare the rule of computation by which the length of the voyage of any ships carrying passengers from such colony to any other place ■ball be estimated for the purposes of the said Act :— Now, I, Sir Charles Augustus Fitz Roy, Governor nforeiaid, by this my Proclamation issued for that purpose, do declare that, s bject to the exception! therein contained, the said Act shall be extended, nnd shall apply to the carnage of passengers by sea from New South Wales aforesaid to any one of the places hereinafter named ; and I do hereby fuither declare, that the follbwing shall be the rule of computation by ■which the length of the voyage of any ship carrying paisengers from New South Wales to each such place shall be estimated for the pur/oies of the laid Act, (that ii to say) :— For n voyage to the United Kingdom— One hundred tad eighty day*. fcor a voyHge to .he Cape of Good Hope—One hundred and ten days. For & voyage to Calcutta, Madras, or Bombay— One hundred days. For a voyage to Ceylon—One hundred days, For a voyage 10 China— One hundred days. For a voyage to Manilla or Batavia— Ninety dayi. For av>ya?e to Mauritius or Singapore—Ninety days. Tor a voyage to tht Western Coast of America— Sixty Eor a Voyage to the Eastern Coast of America— Ona hundred day*. For a voyage to Tahiti, or the South Sea IslandsFifty d»y«. For a voyage to Western Australia — Forty days, For a voyage to South Australia — Twenty -five days. For a voyage to New Zealand— Twenty-one days.
