AT a Public Meeting .held .this day, in the Wesleyan Chapel, Mr. George MacFarlane in the Chair, to take into consideration the commencement and support of a School for the Children of this neighbourhood, the following resolutions were unanimously agreed to :— 1. — "That considering the importance of instruction and education fortne Children of this neighbourhood, the offer of the Rev J. Whiteley, Wesleyan Minister of this place, to allow the use of the Wesleyan Chapel ; and alto, that the offer of Mr- Barrett, to undertake the duties of Schoolmaster, be accepted." 2. — "That considering the claims of our nationality, as Britons, and the duties of of our position as part of a British Colony, and, moreover, considering that a School for the rising generation, will be of public benefit, as well as an advantage to the, Children, we therefore agree to contribute the sums affixed to our signatures, as our Subscriptions for the support of the School for one y ear." 3.—" That other persons who have not been able to attend the Meeting, be respectfully requested to send their aid in support of this laudable undertaking." 4. — " That the Superintendence of the School, and the management of fhe Funds, be left with the Rev. J. Whiteley." 5. — "That thf> Parents of all Children who attend the School, shall be expected to pay in advance, monthly, at the rate of Six- pence per week, for ea6h child." 6. — "That the above resolutions be forwarded for insertion in the Auckland Newspaper."
