TECHNICAL SCHOOL.

| MEETING GF BOARD i - The Oamaru Technical School Board met on Monday evening, Mr C. H. Church preisiding. There were also present: Messrs D. Findlay, G. Livingstone, D. L. Patterson, D. Miller^ W. Rodger and T. W. Jacob s. Mr Church, who has been chairman for the past eleven years, expressed a desire to be relieved of the position, but as there, were 110 other aspirants he was re-elected after severai members had referred to his excellent services. The secretary reported that ihe following enrolments for classes had been received: Dressmaking 12, shorthand 13, typewriting 15, English 12, arithmetic 12, carpentry 17. Mr Jacobs reported that the satisfa'ctory enrolments in the carpentry class were due to the activity displayed by the Apprenticesliip Committee. The class would be a theoretical one and the course of instruction would be such that it would be valuable not only to apprentices but to any other person engaged in trades allied to the building trade. It was decided that the classes* be formed, and that the Education Department be written to for approval. v Tuesday, April 19, was fixed for the opening day. Subject to the Department's approval, Mr S. Roberts was appointed instructor in the carpentry class. . The following Visiting Committees were appointed: — April and May, Messrs Church and Patterson; June, Messrs Jacobs and Miller; !
