DARGAVILLE MEN IN TROUBLE.

WHANGAREI, Last Night. Charles Roy Banton, taxi proprietor ,and Ivor Vin/cent Scoles, prin. ter's apprenticei, both of Dargaville, were charged in the Magistrate's Court before Mr F. M. Levien, S.M., to-day with talcing two young Whangarei girls, 16 and 15 respectively out of the possession of and against the will of their parents with intent that the girls should be unlawfully carnally known. Banton also was charged with attemptingi to unlawfully carnally lcnow a girl under the age of 16. Scoles was also charged with aiding and abet- . ting Banton in the commission of the alleged crime. The story concerned a motor journey to Dargaville last Saturday week and occurred in an unoccupied house but they were soon found by Sergeant Grifixths, of Dargaville, as a result of a message wired through from the Whangarei police. The charge against Scolcs of abduiction was dismissed ,and he was committed to the Supreme Court on the charge of betting, Banton was committed to the change of attempting carnal knowledge, Ihe. charge of abduction being dismissed. The case was heard at 7 in the evening and th» .rose at 11 p.m.
