POSITION DEFINED BY | - ENGINEER. | The policy of the Waitaki Elec- j tric Power Board in the Waianaka- j rua district has been commented upon by ratepayers in that area, and j in. reply to this the engineer-man- j ager made the following statement at yesterday's meeting of the Board "It is reported that the people on ] the line from Herbert to Hampden \ have to pay a high guarantee to en- ^ sure Hampden receiving supply. As ; a matter of facf we required some some £420 per annum for the erec- - tion of the main line and the re- ; ticulation of Hampden, of which ( the township itself would cost less j than £200 per annum. Yet the line i itself has only found some £140 per year revenue, so that only for the j good response of the township, no j line would he possible.
