SYDNEY, March 25. j The hearing has eommenced of j cases in which Thomas Walsli and J Jacob Johnson are each claiming i £20,000 damages against the Com- J monjwealtlj on the grounds of 1 wrongful arrest and false impris- 1 onment. The proceeding arose out of the seamen's strike at the end ; of 1925. Plaintiffs were officials of the Seamen's Union and were arrested with a view lo their deportation under the Deportation Act which subsequeriHiy was declared | ultra vires, and they were discharg- j ed. The jury to-day gave „a verdict i for Walsh for £25. Jolinson's case j will be heard on Monday. , j
