HUMPHREY BISHOP COMPANY.

BPJGHTER THAN EVER. That talented band of performers, the Humphrey Bishop Musical Comedy Company, was warmly greeted in the Opera House last evening and the reputation they earned on a previous visit to Oamaru was very much enhanced by last evening's delightful performance'. The artists were versatile .and clever and put plenty of pep into their work, the whole show going at a merry and bright clip throughout. The programme was fairly long, but there was not a dull mbment and at the end the audience wanted more. It requires to be seen to be appreciated at its real worth, and Oamaru people are fortunate in that they will have another opportunity of hearing them to-night. The bright music of the overture when the curtain first went up, gave promise of good things to come, and so it proved. Mr Humphrey Bishop introduced the members of the company in original* style; and there followed such a variety of numbers as could not fail to delight even the mast fastidious — ragtime ensemble, light comedy turns, clever dancing, plantation song scene, "The Seulptor's Dream," ragtime quintette, a dancing quartette, musical comedietta, vocal numbers of exceptional merit. including Mr Walter Kingsley, the famous London baritone, and Mr John Montfort, the whispering tenor, and a host of other "turns." One of the choicest items of the eveninu was the miserere scene, from "TI Trovatore." by Miss Thelma Trott and Mr Fred \Vebber, and the Anvil Chorus. of j the full company. v To-night the company will make j their linal appearance in Oamaru, j and last night's performance sheuld ensure a full house to-night.
