The attendancj was very satisfactory and included more visitors from Waimate and Timaru than was the case on the first day. The totalisator yesterday put through £8525 10s compared ! with with £8931 10s on Wednesday and £8836 on the seeond day last year when eight races were run. The total for the meeting was £17,457, the 1926 figures being £19.068. The meeting throughout was ably conducted by the officials, and . the secretary (Mr D. V. Smith) had the detail work well in hand. The starter (Mr A. D. Mclvor) despatched the fields without loss of time and no fault could be found with the decisions of the judge (Mr R. H. Aldiworth). , ^ v , For the chief event, the- Buckley. Memorial, Mr J. M. Samson's pair, Vaward and Mountain Lion, were warm favourites with Fresco next in demand. The finish saw the less favoured King Sol score a fairly comfortable win frorn Courtly Rose with Vaward getting third money. The meeting wound up with a sprint over five furlongs, the judge being unahi® to separate Rob and Boosteri, hoth of whom were well supported by backers. Two inquiries were held yester- ' day.
