DUNEDIN, Last Night. Sheep and lambs showed a slight increase in price at Burnside today, but cattle slackened off to the extent of about 10s or £1 per head. Pigs sold at rates on a par with those of last week. About 200 fat cattle were yarded comprising some prime bullocks and the usual assortment of mixed' stuff. The sale was a poor one throughout. /Heavyweight fell, about £1, and light er sorts were about the same as last wseki Values were: Prime bullocks £11 to £l6s 15s. medium £9 to £10 15s, prime cows and heifers £6 to £9 7s 6d, medium £4 10s to £5 15s. Extra heavy bulloek beef made 30s per lOOlbs, pi-ime light 30s, prime heifers 30s, cows and light heifers 22s 6d to 25s. There was a small yarding of store cattle consisting mainly of cows and heifers and a few steers, the last named meeting. with a fair sale. Cows were not , wanted. A medium entry of dairy cows met with a slack demand except for good close to profit sorts. The sheep entry compriscd aboht 1500 light wethers and ewes with a sprinkling of prime wethers. i Heavies hardened by about ls 6d I per head, others showed little i ohanga. Prime wethers made from ' 26s 6d to 32s 9d; niedium and light j from 21s to 26s, prime ewes' from j 17s to 25s 9d, medium from 11s to I 15s.- Extra lieavy wether mutton j made 4M per pound. prime light 5d, j ewes from 4d to 4Jd. The entry of fat lambs was much j smaller this week numbering about j 460. The supply was scarcely suf- ! hcient to meet butchers' requirc- : ments ydth the result that there ! was a keen demand frOm the outset, ! prices ruling in excess of freezing ] schedule.
