CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. Wheat is in much the same position as it was at the end of last weelf. The figure ofFered for it is 5s on trucks hut very little business is passing. Millers have good stocks on hand. Enquirfes are, coming to hand from Auckland for pqtatoes hut the amount of business being done is light. Values are same as they were at the week-end, viz., £3 for forward delivery and £3 5s for prompt. It is stated that owing to a S'econd crop of' Auckland tubers coming forward the demand for 'Cantcrbury-grown stufF is not so keen at present. Nevertheless it is expected that next month will see an appreciation of values, on reason being that local crops. are not likely to be as large or as clean as was at first anticipated. Not a great deal of cocksfoot has changed hands during the past week. Seed from Banks Peninsula is worth about 5d per pound to growers where it is of average quality. A steady trade is being done in perennial ryegrass but only in small • lots. Growers are being offered 4s 3d f.o.b., machine dressed, for which is equal to 2s 6d to 2s 9d on trucks. Southern ryegrass is now coming on Ihe market, the price of which is 3s 9d for machine dressed f.o.b. Good business is being done with it. Southern crops are reported to be good. For Italian ryegrass the market is clead. There is no cowgrass offering, but the market is expected to open at 8d per pound when the seed starts to come forward.
