VISIT TO OAMARU.

ARRANGEMENTS FOR WELCOME. Very complete arrangements have been made for the civic reception to the Duke of York this afternoon. The platform at the South African Memorial has been erected and the final artistic touches are being added under the direction of the curator of the gardens (Mr M. J. Barnett). His Highness will leave the Royal train at the High School crossing at 2.14 and proceed to the Hall of Memories which he is to officially open. Those intending to be present at this ceremony should bear in mind that the side road leading to the School, will he absolutely closed to traffic at 1.30. Visitors must, therefore, be in the school grounds before that hour. Cars may be parked in Major Orbell's paddock on the left side of the road, where a notice will be erected. After the function at the High School, the Duke will motor into town in time to reach the South African Memorial at 3 p.m. When the address has been presented he will insipect the Guard of Honour, Returned Soldiers and Girl Guides, after which his Highness will wallc down the avenue of trees between the lines of school children and boavd the train at the Thames Street crossing at 3.37. The trees will be roped right down to and past the Great War Monument and the public are specially asked to keep off the base of the monument, so that the Royal party may have a clear view while passing down the avenue to the Royal train. From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Thames Street (from Itchen Street to Eden Street), Severn Street (from Thames Street to Cross Street) and Coquet Street (within two chains of Thames Street. east and west) will be closed to vehicles of all descriptions and no standing vehicles will be allowed in those areas during the proliibUed hours^

The time-table for the whole of the proceedings is as follows:— 1.30 p.m. — Children assemble in Takaro Park and after assembly march via Steward to Thames street and up the Avenue. Regimental Bancl parades at Takaro Park. 2 p.m.— Guard of Honour, Municipal Band and Returned Soldiers parade at Drill Hall. Girl Guides parade at Middle School. Must be in place at South African Monument before 2.30 p.m. 2.14 p.m. — Royal train arrives at Waitaki High School. 2.45 p-m. — Royal party leaves High School. 3 p.m. — Ceremony at South African Monument. Address presented. His Royal Highness inspects Guard, Returned Soldiers, Girl Guides, and then walks down * Avenue between lines of school children. 3.37 p.m. — The Duke boards train at Thames street crossing and dei paris for Dunedin,, /"* ^
