EXCELSIOR CLUB.
The following report is to be submitted to the annual meeting of the Excelsior Football Club on YVednes day night: — As shown hy the balance sheet, tlie finances of the club are in an extremely sound state, despite the fact that there are still .a large number of outstanding subscriptions. Three teams were entered for the club -fixtures, and all teams put up a very good display, the junior teaims especially. Although unsUccessful in attaining premiei honours ' in any of the gradesr the club's performances all through^ . were very creditable. Several members attained representative honours. We convey our sincerest congratulations to the Maheno, Waitaki High School and Old Bys' teams on annexing the premiership of the senior, junior and third grades respectively. The Club's annual fixture with the Star Club was played at Timaru, and although defeated, the members had a most enjoyable trip. The annual dance was held in the Lyric Hall. This function was a great suiccess and the club funds benefited to the extent of £22. Thanks are dut to Mrs Hopley and the lady supporters for taking charge of t"he supper rooms. Early in the season it was with great regret that the club assembled tc bid farewell to Mr F. W. Ongley and family. His loss was extremely felt by the club. The annual reunion was held in the Coquet Street Hall, and was a successful function. The committee Would like to sug-, gest that all members give more serious consideration to their training and thus f assist the various coaches to their utmost. We feel confid.ent that the right material is in the club, and this can be developed only by regular training. In retiring from office your committee wish to thank the members for the loyal support during the season and wish the club every success..
