AUCKLAND, Last Night. At a meeting of the Auckland bx*anch ot Railway Engineers Firemen and Cleaners' Asso(ciation tod'ay strong objection was taken to the manner in which the general secretary (Mr McArley) had perfopmed his dnties in interpreting the rules of the Association- when the position of the president was declared vacant. A resolution was passed expressing lack .of donfidence in him and asking that he should tender his resignation. Suppoi't was given to the following resolution from the Dunedin branch: That sincere appreciation be expressed of the services rendered to the Association by Mr. Carroll during his term as president. The folowing resolutxpns were passed: "That this branch considers that Mr McArley and Mr F. J. Levin lalck hoth the respect and confidence nceessary fcr the pcsiticns they occupy. (2) That the general secretary -be' informed that the Association is a democratic institution' and that no instractions will be accepted except they" be formally endorsed by the Execqtive Council." (3) That the branch endorse the action of the ExeeutiVe Council in suspending Mr McArley and ventilatirig the measures enfployed by him to prevent Mr J. J. Pennell 'beingp elected delegate for Wellington. (4) That this branch pledges itself to support the Executive Council in any action -taken to vindicate its power and authority. (5) That it is the opinion of this branch that a full meeting of the Grand Council should be heM as soon as the vacancies are filled to deal with the existfng crisis in the organisatioxi.
