KIA ORA NOTES.
[Special to Nortli Otago Times.]
A very pleasing little function took place in the school house on. Friday last, when the mothers and children met to bid farewell to Miss, Kay and to express their regret at losing such a good and popular teacher. A pleasant hour was spent with music and singing; after which a cheering cup of tea was handed round., During the proceedings little Miss Henderson took the opportunity to; present Miss Kay with an unique manicure set, and voiced the regret of the' children at losing their beloyed • teacher. THE HARVEST. The weather for the past few weeks has been' ideal so far as the harvest is coucerned. Threshing out of the stoolc has been the order with a number of farmers, as most of the wheat crops are ver> rank and to staclc would take a lot of handling. The wheat crops are likely to yield well, although not up to last year's .standard. Many of the crops, however; 'were ioo heavy and went ' down with the rain in the early part of the season and are likely to have disappointing .results. The late oats, too, will be light on account of rust. A much larger acreage is to be seen in barley this year and on appearances should yield well.
